The harbor of Reykjavik has gone through big changes in the past few years as tourism has increased. Small fishing boats, large fishing vessels, and whale watching boats all work from the city harbor. There are also fish factories, restaurants, art shops, museums, and different tourist services, as well as the main Concert Hall based at the waterfront. All of these things live in a harmony and give an extra flavor of life to the city. The well maintained coast guard ships in front of the Concert Hall, the beautifully painted light house, and the artwork on the Fishery Research House all contribute to the nice atmosphere.
